Saying the names of those we’ve lost is an essential part of being a community
During COVID-19 we felt as though there weren’t enough spaces of public grieving and we also felt very disconnected from the pain and grief of our community. We started saying the names of those who were loved and lost by our community members due to COVID-19.
Now, we say the names of all who have been loved and lost by members of our community. We think by holding space — even for a moment — we hope to make our listeners feel seen in their grief and remember those who are no longer with us physically, but who will always be with us in love.
